Weather Advisory

Trees bent near-double,
the house creaks and groans,
beneath it all
the tornado siren sings
warning of approaching dangers.

Wrapped inside the music
I feel the storm build;
each shuffle of song
brings me closer to the edge
of awareness.

Whipped up in the wind,
leaves scatter across the road
plaster themselves to my window,
nature’s voyeurs watching
as passion unfolds within.

Lost on a bed of blankets,
tangled sheets, and want,
the turmoil beyond these walls
pales with every stroke,
each crash of thunder.

Caught in the eye of the tempest,
the heavens can’t hold back;
release is sweet. Spring rain,
warm and satisfying, pours
over, melts the winter within.
