Remind Me

Reach out and catch me, I’m falling faster

today than yesterday’s happiness could

have predicted.  Sunshine worms its way in

between the slats of dreary hung against

dirty windows to the world outside yet

I am having trouble feeling its warmth.

Searches for rhythm and rhyme exhaust me,

caught up in the mundane waits of the world

as I am prone to be. I keep looking

over my shoulder, with a glance toward you

for rescue from daze like this – even though

I know I can stand on my own two feet.

Please remind me again of love and strength

not just yours but what you know I possess.
